Good news for anyone wishing to book a holiday to the EU.
On the 4th of April it was announced that the European Parliament had approved legal changes to ensure that UK citizens will not need a visa to travel to the EU for short stays after Brexit – even in the event of a no-deal exit.
The vote approving the motion to allow tourism or business trips was overwhelmingly in favour with 501 votes against 81, with 29 abstentions. The move permits stays of up to 90 days in any 180-day period, but does not grant the right to work.
Mark Tanzer, Chief Executive of ABTA said: “It follows on from the confirmation a few weeks ago that flights will continue to operate, even in a no deal. This means that two of the most important concerns for UK tourists and business travellers visiting the EU have been addressed and will provide a further boost to confidence about travel to the EU after Brexit.”
Roger Mallock, Travel Manager from PayingTooMuch Holidays added: “It’s very encouraging to see that this decision has been made and I think it should give travellers more confidence and reassurance when booking a holiday within the EU in 2019 and beyond.”
