
It has been announced that the cost of a postal application for adult passports will increase from £72.50 to £85 and comes into effect on March 27th, 2018.
Fees for a passport for children under 16 will now cost £58.50, up from £46, an increase of 27%.
Online application fees will also rise but will cost less than the postal application. Adult passports will cost £75.50 while a child's will cost £49.

The price rises are part of a drive to increase the use of online services and HM Passport Office is expected to receive additional income of up to £50 million in the financial year 2018-19 from the fee increase.
