Tuesday was 1st December, officially marking the start of winter. However, with daytime temperatures of 15 degrees in some parts of the UK, it doesn’t really feel like winter yet. But don’t be fooled, the warm temperatures are unlikely to stay for much longer. Ensure you and your loved ones are ready for when the cold weather arrives.
Last winter there were an estimated 43,900 excess winter deaths in England and Wales. This was despite most of last winter being warmer than average. Many elderly people do not have access to the internet and are therefore unable to compare energy tariffs online.
Michael Ward, Managing Director of PayingTooMuch.com comments:
“When was the last time your parents or grandparents compared their energy online? Perhaps they never have and have been with the same supplier for years. They could be on very expensive tariffs.
I would like to urge all customers to think about their elderly relatives and ensure they too have the best deal possible. That way homes can stay warmer and people can remain healthy and happy.”
Fixed price tariffs expiring in December 2015 include Scottish Power, Sainsbury’s Energy, nPower, first:utility and extraenergy.
